VOLUNTEER POLICY

Volunteer Clearance Information

Our volunteer policy is in effect immediately, and there will not be a grace period this year. All volunteers and visitors must complete and submit the application in order to be cleared to come on campus. We appreciate your partnership in helping us maintain a safe and supportive environment for our students.

As a reminder, any adult working or volunteering on campus must complete the Volunteer Application process. This includes attending class parties, chaperoning field trips, working with students, teaching art lessons, and any other classroom activities. With many upcoming events and celebrations, we strongly encourage all families to complete their application as soon as possible to ensure there is enough time for processing. Please see below for more information and the application link. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students.

Effective December 1st any volunteer that would like to chaperone a field trip must have a Level A Volunteer Clearance. If you currently are a Level B - you must complete a Level A application. You can upload the same TB Form and Mandated Reporter Certificate from Level B. Once you submit the Level A, it will go to the District Office and they will reach out to you with locations/billing code for the LiveScan fingerprinting.

All new Level A volunteer applicants will receive an email with the details of the three participating Postal Annex locations, including their addresses and operating hours.

Please see below for updates regarding SMUSD's Volunteer Policy. The SMUSD Volunteer Page has a Frequently Asked Questions section that should answer most of your questions, however, here are a few highlights:

  • All volunteers, including returning volunteers, must complete a new application each year.
  • All volunteers must also complete the mandated reporter training on a yearly basis.
  • We do not have access to TB paperwork from last year. A copy of your completed paperwork must be submitted with your application. Although the TB test and risk assessment form is valid for four years, you must submit the form each year. Please be sure to save a copy for your files.
  • If you had a LiveScan completed last year, you do not need to repeat the process.
