Carrillo Elementary hosts two Scholastic Books Fairs each year (Fall/Winter and Spring). Each class visits once during the weeklong event to shop and find new treasures, and payment options include setting up a digital wallet ahead of time for your student. Hours are usually extended to allow for shopping before and after school, and during coinciding special event.

There is an option to donate money to the "Book Fairy" for students with limited funds to choose a book.

Held each October, Fall Bash is one of Carrillo Elementary’s most-anticipated annual events, led by our PTO and supported by dedicated staff and parent volunteers. This family friendly celebration transforms our campus into a lively fall festival featuring carnival games, bounce houses, inflatable slides, obstacle courses, a petting zoo, free trick-or-treating, food trucks, crafts, and more.

Held each December, Festival of Lights is a beloved Carrillo Elementary tradition led by our PTO and dedicated teacher volunteers. This festive evening brings our community together to celebrate creativity, music, and school spirit as our campus is transformed with student artwork, twinkling lights, live performances, and special guests. Festival of Lights is a joyful way to connect and celebrate the season as we head into winter break.

Get ready, Colts! Laser Tag is back on April 21 with high energy excitement, pizza, and friendly competition. Spots are limited, so be ready to grab your tickets early and join the fun! 

Carrillo VIP can RSVP April 5-10, Online tickets go on sale April 12.

The giving season kicks off with our fundraiser to benefit the Marines and their families at Camp Pendleton. Carrillo families are invited to donate household goods, which are collected by our local girl scout troop during morning drop off. The collected items are presented to the Marines at a special flag salute. Breakfast and lunch are provided to our heroes as they spend the day with our students. This is a very unique and moving event!

Outdoor Movie Night is a free, family favorite event, and we are excited to now be able to host it on our new field! Bring your family and neighbors, a big blanket to sit on the turf, low-back lawn chairs and an appetite as the PTO arranges food trucks to be on site selling delicious food and dessert. There is usually popcorn, candy, glow items and Carrillo merch for sale.

2025 Movie Night featured A Minecraft Movie!

Join us for this fun family event held each February. Past themes have included Hogwarts, Mad Hatter's Ball, and 90s Dance Party. Let your creativity shine as you show off theme-inspired outfit and bust a move on the dance floor. Carrillo students can bring a parent, grandparent or other loved one to our school dance.

Save the Date: This year's theme is Colt-Chella and will take place Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, from 5-7 p.m. Early Bird tickets are currently on sale until Feb. 4. Tickets at the door will increase.
